The program of residences is within the project “Platform for the Art of the Future”. Art-Residences and open-air programs in Russia and abroad.
The program of residences within the project “Platform for the Art of the Future” gives the opportunity to painters and curators to conduct a survey, create new artwork, meet with local art community and implement special partnership project with art organizations in Russia, EU countries, American and Asian regions. Each residence is made for a month and aimed on interaction between host organization and invited painters and curators and gives to participants an opportunity to learn more about local art community, develop their own projects and share information about their work and native culture with local audience.
Key component “Platform for the Art of the Future” – it is a program of residences that unites art organizations, painters and curators from 10 countries. The project aims to rethink the standard concepts of public space, nationalities and cultures also to demonstrate how artistic and social; practical solutions can stimulate public interaction and positive changes. “Platform for the Art of the Future” represents professional platform for the information, resource and practical skills exchange in art and various social environments. Events within this project - residences, public art festivals, seminars and master classes – are promoting international exchange and cooperation. Project “Platform of the Art of the Future” is initiated by the non-profit organization "Eurasian Art Union" (Riga-Moscow-Beijing), promoting development of international dialog and mutual understanding through collaborative innovative art projects.
Artists and curators who reside permanently in the following countries can apply for participation in the residence program: Russia, Belarus, EU countries, PRC. Preference will be given to artists and curators, whose artistic practice demonstrate interest in interaction with local communities and focuses on social issues. However, applications from artists working in other fields are also welcome. A detailed description of each residence is attached. Twenty painters/curators will be selected by commission (two residents from every participating country). The Eurasian Art Union partially covers the organizational costs: international air travel, visa (if necessary), accommodation, workshop.
